A NACAC colleague recently remarked that Holly seemingly knows every college representative, test prep person, scholarship opportunity, and college option out there. Given her astoundingly impressive resume, it’s very likely she does. Not only does Holly have distinguished educational and professional credentials (throw in that she’s a LPC, a NCC, and has an SCL, all licenses that give her counselor super-powers), she has the utmost respect of her peers

Her extensive career helping students began in the college residence halls of Marian University and Ball State University, as Hall Director and Residence Hall Director, respectively. While at Marian, she earned her MSEd in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from Indiana University Bloomington. She moved on to become the Director of Faith and Service at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, and soon after, stepped into the role of Director of College Counseling. During that time, she earned her Master of Science degree in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services from Capella University.

If all this weren’t enough to make a college-bound student and family feel as if they’re in the best possible hands (or wonder when Holly sleeps), it should be noted that she has a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Alma College (attention STEM students), and, for the last 18 years, she has been a troop leader and organizer for the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (yes, she was heavily involved in cookie distribution). In her spare time, Holly knits, reads, and spends quality family time watching her kids tube and ski on Michigan’s lakes.

Applying to college can be overwhelming, but with the help of my Collegewise counselor, I had a plan and knew what to expect from the process. With her help, I felt prepared for interviews and confident with my essays. Whether it was correcting grammatical mistakes or brainstorming ideas, the essay advice was vital to the success of my applications. My weekly one-on-one sessions were always made to fit my schedule, so I never had to worry about them conflicting with other activities. Thanks, Collegewise!
